With the arrival of the Year of the Tiger, the Westfield Wheaton Mall and Westfield Montgomery Mall hosted in-person Lunar New Year celebrations for three consecutive Saturdays, from January 31, 2022, to February 12, 2022. On the afternoon of February 5, 2022, JRC photographers visited Westfield Montgomery Mall to capture the aesthetic decorations, exciting festivities, and eye-catching performances. The event was hosted by the Chinese Culture and Community Center (CCACC). Important county officials including Marc Elrich and Gabe Albornoz were present to wish county residents a prosperous Year of the Tiger.
The entire mall was adorned with hundreds of red lanterns and two large dragons, set up by a group of student volunteers over the course of seven hours (Claire Yu).

The audience was drawn into the opening act, as a group of teenagers performed a dragon dance, bringing the mythical creature alive (Jessica Zhang).
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich shared his excitement about the event and officially presented his Lunar New Year Proclamation with CCACC Executive Director Chih-Hsiang Li (Claire Yu).
Many CCACC dance teams, both young and old, performed various traditional Chinese dances (Jessica Zhang).
A group of performers were ready to go on stage, symbolizing luck, joy, and happiness through their red costumes (Claire Yu).
